King County Active Youth, Healthy Futures

Please join the Center for Leadership in Athletics and King County Parks on Wednesday, May 30, to discuss and explore regional efforts aimed at building healthy communities by increasing youth activity, play, and sport participation.

Attendees will learn more about efforts to bring Project Play, an Aspen Institute initiative reimagining youth sport and play, to King County.  Attendees will also hear from local speakers about their work related to boosting access to and opportunity for sport, play, and physical activity.  Presenters include:

Dr. Pooja Tandon, physician and researcher, discussing her current projects, which focus on the connection between outdoor play, physical activity and various health and development outcomes in preschool age children. 

Aubrey Fitzpatrick, Outreach Director for the Pocock Rowing Foundation, presenting on their unique collaboration with Seattle Public Schools resulting in the largest youth rowing program in the country.

Ashley Fosberg, Executive Director of the RAVE Foundation, the charitable arm of the Seattle Sounders, speaking about RAVE's design of and investment in a small soccer field at Yesler Terrace in Seattle.
